It’s odd to think how close I came to missing a paid vacation on an island paradise

…Instead, an impromptu serenade & a minor case of mistaken identity let me while away a month on sun-soaked beaches in my very own ocean front suite.

I’d missed the ferry I’d originally intended to take me back to Athens, where I spent the first part of my travels in Greece–which left me stuck on busy docking terminal with more than a few hours to waste. I tend to sing to pass the time when I’m bored; and being marooned in port city in Italy proved no exception. I started off softly enough–but I got louder when I noticed I had an enthusiastic audience. I sang for the ticketing agents, I sang for the sailors who were lolling about after helping cruise ship passengers disembark…

I gave a lovely serenade for the poor souls stuck like me;

Whiling away the hours until the next shift or ship came to take us away…I didn’t realize at the time that one of the bystanders watching me sing surrounded by a group of the cruise ship’s sailors thought I was actually part of the vessel’s crew. Specifically, the lounge singer. When the captain barked an order that I’m assuming meant “Get back to work” & the sexy sailors in their dress whites resumed their duties, he came forward and introduced himself as the owner of a island resort on Ios–

…Would I be interested in taking a break from sailing to sing?

Not for the cruise line, but for his guests in an ocean front resort. Since I’m not a gullible Goddess, I told him I’d think about it. I found out some information about Ios from the ticketing agents, and decided I’d take the ferry to Ios 1st–see if his story checked out, explore a semi-private Aegean Island paradise on my own terms, and if I didn’t like the vibe, Santorini the Mediterrean Party Island Playground was just a two-hour ferry ride away.

…Some things in life are too good to be true; and some things turn out better than you ever imagined.

My stay on Ios was the stuff dreams are made of 😉
